August 12th 2004 - Insurance Inspection

The gentleman from the insurance company came around today to take a look, he took notes of all the receipts and gave me details of a paint shop local to Putney that specialises in re-spraying classic cars. Hopefully a cheque will be through in the next week or two to cover everything.

Picked up the correct size discs from B&Q and cut off the passenger side mounting tab. Drained the radiator to allow me to offer up the front axle sub-frame to work out where the second mounting point should be. Noted that the passenger side top mount point was moved slightly by the collision. Hopefully this will ease back into place because I can't face cutting out that side and re-welding it in. Welded in the second tab. In general, the welds are better than the drivers side, although not quite as neat as the on across the top. Access is still awkward but a steady hand and moving slowly seem to be producing better results.

Finished priming the upper wishbone and lower suspension section. Started top coating the front axle sub-frame. Managed to miss a thunderstorm which his literally 30 seconds after locking everything back into the garage.

Received a mail from Rimmer Bros letting me know that the alternator bracket is no longer available. I'll have to shim it to get the alternator back into line with the flywheel and water pump pulley.
