With the front sub-assembly off it was possible to get it and weld the new diagonal onto the engine mounting point. Two good clean welds down the back that needed no reworking. Ran fresh clean beads down the outside joins where I had ground them back earlier last week. Ground back the underside fillet weld and tried to get a neater bead in. Still wasn't happy with it so ground it back again. The underside welds are slowly getting neater, but to be honest I don't think it's something that the MIG welder is particularly suited to. Thinking about this further, I'm sure I've seen some instructions or a book somewhere that says that MIG welding isn't suited to welding upside down. Sanded of the worst of the surface rust on the diagonal, applied Metal Ready and then the first coat of black POR 15.
Tried to sort of the exhaust header which I still think is running very close to the starter motor. Tried to use a ratchet strap to pull the downpipe back towards the front of the chasis, but it just pulled the entire engine forwards onto it's mountings. Need to clear out the rest of the junk down that side of the car and sort out the exhaust mountings properly since they are still in my opinion one of the weakest parts of the car.
Called LC Developments this morning to find out where the indicator and mounting had got to. They'll call back once someone that might know is in the office.
Still need source the following parts:
