September 21st 2004 - Fans

First time back working on the car after a two week break, one week in France, one week touting for jobs at a trade show. I did try to tinker with it once, but realised the battery was empty and hence couldn't start the car.

Finally got hold of the right size cable ties that fit through the grill of the radiator. Couldn't find exactly the ones that I was looking for so have had to use a rubber grommet and washer to spread the load across the fins. With the battery recharged was able to start her up and let her run for 15minutes to check that everything was working okay. The fan came on using manual override but the water wasn't getting hot enough to turn it on using the thermostat, probably because the new radiator will be more efficient than the old due to less gunk in the pipes.

Re-welded the sidelight support plate to the end of the upper wing support strut that attaches to the top of the front suspension assembly. Rewired and refitted the side lamp. Covered the cabling in the black binding and tied it to the support strut.

Flattened out the two mangled pieces of the engine bay side wall and traced around them onto a fresh piece of steel. Tried cutting it out with the Fein Multimaster but it's really not suited to the job.
