The weather is set to deteriorate again later in the week, so a big push to try and get the last few bits finished. Out comes the car, and the front goes up onto the stands to try and work out where yesterdays vibrations are coming from.
Both wheels spin freely, but close inspection of the drivers side wheel shows quite clearly that the inner rim was distorted by the impact. So off it comes, and the spare tyre goes into on in it's place. Whilst the tyre is off I tighten up the bearings by a third of a turn to stop a little play that was evident. A quick trip up Putney Hill and back shows that the vibrations have been corrected. A quick scan through the Demon Tweaks catalogue shows that a fresh Performance Superlite wheel will cost about 70ukp ex. VAT.
Still haven't worked out what is causing the graunching noise when going over speed bumps. It could be that something needs greasing, or it could be something like the exhausts shifting.
Spoke to the insurance company and finally got a sensible answer out of them. They're waiting for a quote for the respray before they'll issue a payment. I'll track down the paint shop on Putney Bridge Road tomorrow and try to get a quote that can be sent on. There's still probably a couple of days worth of work to be done, to clean up the last few nicks in the bodywork and the bonnet edges, before it can go in to the paint shop.
